DaVinci Resolve 21

Most SL folks, other than those I first met in 2011, don't know I started in Second Life as a filmmaker.

I had been working with a team of animators on the Annual 48 Hour Film project, using a software called, iCone from Reallusion, and every year we lost the competition in the machinima category to the Second Life team. This was the first time I'd heard of Second Life.

At that time I'd been co-hosting an internet radio show all about Machinima, and out of curiosity to find out how and why we kept losing to the Second Life team, I reached out to one of the SL crew members and invited her on the show for an interview.

The interview never happened, but instead she invited me to join Second Life and offered to give me a tour. Within the first 10 minutes of that tour I was hooked. I abandoned the animation software I'd been using and moved over to SL. That lady and I became good friends and I'm happy to report we still are.

My first experience in SL was as a camera operator for a Relay For Life event coordinated across many locations, which had to be the most frenetic experience I've ever had. It was thrilling and I got to meet and work with so many wonderful people.

After my time with RFL, I turned my attention toward learning how to build and the rest is history.

Fast forward to 2026 - I was working on something at the Station, the stream I play there is Cinemix, and this song came on - I have no idea how my brain works, but suddenly, triggered by the music, I saw an entire film playing in my head - from beginning to end. I was seized by the idea of this film and knew I had to make it.

Music often acts as a catalyst for my creative work. So, suffice it to say, I'm making a short film now and learning some really amazing new editing software, Black Magic's DaVinci Resolve.

At the encouragement of friends, I've opened a small art gallery at Port Emyniad on the Southern Coast of Corsica, featuring my RL pen & ink drawings.

So, that's what I'm currently up to. I hope you are having fun, too.

Until next time - Stay Curious and enjoy your travels.
