My Life in Another World

I suspect people assume that Second Life is the only online platform I belong to. But Tripp Foxtail belongs to other worlds besides SL. I am very glad he does.

Recently in SL, I've experienced a few exchanges with others that can best be described as, "toxic". There is so much anger and aggression among people on that platform. So much of the Real World's political ugliness seems to have leaked in, along with heaps of narcissism and misinformation, all combined and baked into personal hate campaigns.

It's sad and painful to see a place I once considered my online home devolve into this abysmal state. It's very much like what's happening in Real Life, in that regard. In a very real sense it has broken my heart.

This is why I've opted to remove myself from SL for the time being.

If and when I do return to SL, it will be strictly to build and explore. The same things that bring me so much joy in this other world. Where I'm a farmer who hunts and fishes, gathers flowers and bugs, explores, solves puzzles, and builds things.

And nobody bothers me. Nobody wants anything from me. Nobody wants to compete with me or be aggressive towards me because of my accomplishments or gender. Or use me like an object.

In this other world, I'm simply allowed to enjoy myself without interference, and it costs me nothing. (what a concept!) As opposed to the monthly tier I pay in SL.

This break from SL that I'm on has been so peaceful, zero stress other than watering my crops and feeding my chickens. I look forward to logging in, as opposed to dreading it.

Looking back on my life, I suppose I’ve never been much of a people person anyway. Maybe I'm just more comfortable in non-social online environments.

Until what time I make a final determination about my involvement in SL, all my public lands - including Traveler's Station - will remain open.

Until next time - Enjoy Your Travels
