Last Hours of a Build

The final hours of a public space build always feel bittersweet to me. I'm happy and excited I get to open a new area to the public, but I'm sad because these are my final few hours to have it all to myself, where it's just my secret place that nobody has a landmark to.

This particular build has been so much fun for me. Combining many of my favorite activities like - flying planes, sailing ships, causing mischief and mayhem while engaging in hooliganism of epic proportions.

But much more than that - I got to escape real life and its mind-numbing fire hose that spews never ending, high velocity, bullshit and stupidity with a side of doom and gloom.

Some folks are saying the world around them just doesn't feel safe anymore. Maybe that thought is what inspired this build. Leaning into the feeling that things aren't safe, while mocking it at the same time.

I suspect the ability to laugh at situations gives us a kind of superpower.

I'm sure this is perfectly safe.

I've recently had a couple people tell me they choose to build in Open Sim because it's "free" and they can't afford to build in Second Life. Which is absolute nonsense because if someone REALLY wants to build in Second Life, they can do it for free at any sandbox. But I think what these people meant was they couldn't afford the land on which to build.

"Free" and "Stolen" are 2 different things. I'm not going to get into the topic of Open Sim's smelly sewer filled with copybotted products that have been stolen from the builders of SL. That's for people way above my pay grade. All I can do is report it when I see it.

Yes, it does cost money to own land in Second Life. Everyone has their own priorities when it comes to spending money on entertainment. I made Second Life a priority, others may not. Second Life also has something those other half-assed worlds do not - it has PEOPLE! Real live people from all over the world, 24/7 there's always someone online.

And I believe that creating special places for those people is worth the entry fee I pay.

Until next time - stay curious and enjoy your travels.
