4,800 Travelers
As we inch nearer to 5,000 travelers, I want to say thank you to those who have visited the Station and to those who continue to return and use its resources. And a special Thank You to those who take the time to leave me a note in the Guest Book.
I’ve written endlessly about my love affair with this place, so I won’t bore you with more of my effusiveness about it.
What I want to talk to you about today is fear - and how, all too often, it holds us back from realizing our dreams and stepping into our own power as individuals.
When I first had the idea for the Station, my internal thoughts were immediately negative:
"That would never work."
"It’s a stupid idea."
"Nobody would use it."
Negativity and fear are common human knee-jerk reactions. Now, more than ever, we’re told to be afraid: be fearful of others who may be different from us, be afraid of those in power, be afraid of the future, be afraid to be yourself, be afraid of your neighbors.
Just… be afraid all the time.
Why?
Because people who are afraid are the easiest to manipulate and control.
So, as your friendly Travel Advisor in Second Life, I’m going to suggest you travel in the opposite direction. If only for one day, act as if you are not afraid of anything. Because it is so worthwhile.
Courage isn't the absence of fear, but rather the ability to act despite being afraid.
Speak your truth. Sing your song. Create your art. Dance your rhythm. Keep your faith. Love who you want to love. Do all these things fearlessly for one day - and see how it feels.
“Do not be silent; there is no limit to the power that may be released through you.”
- Howard Thurman
Until next time - stay curious, and enjoy your travels.
